The Department of Health has set-up a number of events around the country on Modernising Scientific Careers. Presentations will be given by Professor Sue Hill (Chief Scientific Officer- DH) and Professor Shelley Heard (MSC Programme lead-DH) and there will also be workshops and question and answer sessions.
All healthcare scientists are advised to attend any local events hosted by their SHAs to find out more about the proposals and how it could affect their profession.
The UK health departments in the UK’s devolved countries are currently considering important proposals concerning the redesign and redefinition of healthcare scientist careers via a generic career model. This project seeks to ensure flexibility, sustainability and modern common career pathways fit to address the needs of the future NHS.
The project has attracted controversy and criticism from a number of organisations including the Federation itself.
